A major exhibition of Néstor Martín-Fernández de la Torre (1887–1938) has opened at the Queen Sofía Museum. A native of the Canary Islands, he is almost unknown outside of Spain. Meanwhile, the genius of Surrealism, Salvador Dalí, was an admirer of this artist’s work — a master who worked at the intersection of Symbolism, Modernism, and Decadence. Moreover, he admitted to having been influenced by Néstor. Until September 8, residents and visitors of Madrid have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the imaginative world of this remarkable artist and perhaps discover him for the first time — the exhibition features nearly two hundred works from Néstor’s personal museum on the island of Gran Canaria. At the same time, the Prado Museum is opening a major exhibition of Veronese — the kind that cannot be missed.
