Christie’s auction house has announced a sensational auction sale to be held in November. The collection of Paul Allen, “a philanthropist and innovator”, who died four years ago, will be put up to auction in New York. The co-founder of Microsoft company eagerly purchased American paintings of the second half of the XX century. But later, he started buying classical museum masterpieces of the XYII-XIX centuries. Christie’s presents a painting from the series Mont Sainte-Victoire by Paul Cézanne as one of the auction’s top lots. Though the exact composition of the collection is not unveiled yet. Maybe, the auction house intends to sell it as a whole. In this case a prospective buyer should pay 1 billion dollars.
