The world started talking about made-to-measure skincare in the early 2000s, when it became fashionable to customise not only your outfit but also your skincare products. These had to be tailored to individual reactions to living conditions, stress, disease and hormonal changes. In 2007, My Blend (My Blend was and is the brainchild of Olivier Courtin-Clarins, son of Clarins’ founder Jacques Courtin-Clarins and CEO of the Clarins Group) was launched in France, becoming one of the pioneers in the personalised skincare market.

At the heart of My Blend are several creams for different skin types and conditions and booster concentrates which were to be added directly into the cream and mixed together. The number of all possible combinations of cream + concentrate was over 350 variations. The cream was mixed with the desired serum and used for a month, then the experts recommended a break for a month or two, using only base care products, and then repeating the course, possibly with a different serum.

In 2015, Olivier came to Moscow from Paris and gave a series of interviews, detailing the concept to the Russian public. “Perhaps the means are a little ahead of time and the audience is not quite ready for such a concept, he said. – But the future is behind it – you’ll see, in a little while you’ll be coming to the shop for a product prepared especially for you.” In 2019, the My Blend corner opened in Moscow, at the Golden Apple shop in the Metropolis shopping centre on the Leningrad highway. There, you could also get your skin diagnosed on a special machine and then pick up your products. But the idea, as Olivier feared, turned out to be really too complicated and incomprehensible.

My Blend brand’s first design

Now there is a new life – the second My Blend story begins in 2022. The approach will remain complex, but will become a little simpler nonetheless. Serums should now be applied to the face and then covered with cream (you can use different serums – for example, today to moisturise, tomorrow to improve turgor, mix it up depending on the situation). You don’t need to mix anything in the jars! In general, serums can even be used on their own, but the effect is better with creams. In addition to creams and serums the collection contains all items for complete care – cleansing foam, peeling, concentrate for eye area, body products, food additives, four beauty tools (including massage roller and LED mask). The composition is rich: peptides, fermented turmeric extract, vitamin C, and hyaluronic acid.

The revamped My Blend collection

Diagnosis can be made online and the line can be purchased from 16 May at myblend.com, as well as at the Clarins Group’s most friendly hotel in Paris, Le Royal Monceau, Raffles Paris and at Thermes Marins Monte-Carlo. Professional treatments will also be introduced. The brand will later expand globally.
