The BMW M Hybrid V8 hypercar, designed for endurance racing, became the “canvas” for the creative experiment of Julie Mehretu, an American artist of Ethiopian origin. Since its inception in 1975, the BMW Art Car program demanded that Julie create something entirely unprecedented. While contemplating the challenge, the artist revisited her own art piece Everywhen and envisioned a car soaring through the painting, leaving traces of the colors behind. This sparked an idea that was later brought to life using 3D mapping.
