The Patek Philippe watch factory introduces its new revolutionary model – 1/10th Second Monopusher Chronograph Ref. 5470P-001. It is the first wrist chronograph ever, capable of measuring 1/10 seconds. The frequency of the CH 29-535 PS calibre with traditional structure (manual factory, column wheel, horizontal clutch) was increased from 4 to 5 Hz (36 thousand. semi-oscillations/hour at 10 «jumps» per second), which allowed to measure such «microscopic» time periods. Since a single second hand would not have been sufficient to reflect them, the engineers equipped the CH 29-535 PS 1/10 with two independent and perfectly synchronised chronograph mechanisms, each of which set in motion a separate central hand. The full-turn hand per minute represents the function of stopping the second hand in the traditional form. Another hand (made of red lacquered Silinvar® material) rotates once in 12 seconds. The elegant blue colour of the dial is perfectly combined with a dark blue calfskin strap with fabric stamping and red decorative seams.
