The stone is called Le Montaigne after the Parisian avenue where the French fashion house’s recently renovated flagship shop is located. After two years of complete renovation, it has once again opened its doors at 30 Avenue Montaigne. In addition to the retail space itself, there is a restaurant, luxury apartments, three gardens and an exhibition gallery. To celebrate the long-awaited opening, the house unveiled a unique 88.88-carat yellow cushion-cut diamond. The original 150-carat diamond was found in 2020 in South Africa. The weight of the cut stone is no accident: the number 8 was sacred to Mr. Dior, so the weight had to be exactly 88.88 carats. The cutting took about nine months. Later the diamond will adorn the ring designed by Victoire de Castellane, the eternal creative director of Dior jewelry direction.
