Lawrence Graff, who founded his jewelry company in 1960, is not only a brilliant entrepreneur but also an outstanding collector. His private collection includes works by Andy Warhol, Keith Haring, Jean-Michel Basquiat and other artists who changed the art of the 20th century. One of the diamond trader’s favourite artists is Cy Twombly, whose work has inspired an entire collection, Inspired by Twombly. The American abstractionist painter draws chaotic lines, scratches and calligraphic brushstrokes. And the same chaotic spirals and scrolls of diamonds and coloured gems are in the Graff jewelry. The jewelry loops appear to be airy thanks to the high craftsmanship of the stone setting. The Inspired by Twombly collection includes earrings in the form of long curls with suspended drops of emeralds or sapphires, a diamond open bracelet, and a ring in the form of a cluster of sparkling loops.
