Dubai’s observation decks are for those who want to see the world from record-breaking heights.
If there were a world championship for the most breathtaking views from above, Dubai would win ithands down. The viewing platforms of the Arab metropolis compete with each other: one impresseswith its height, another with its adrenaline rush, and a third with the illusion of infinity in an infinity pool.
Burj Khalifa
The tallest building in the world (828 ms, 163 floors), the highest observation deck (on the 148th floor,555 m above the ground), the longest spire (180 m), and a restaurant at a record-breaking height(122nd floor). You can even live in the tallest building on planet Earth. On vacation, you can stay atthe Armani Hotel, which occupies 11 floors of the tower. Or permanently, in one of the 900 apartmentsbetween the 45th and 108th floors. Or you can simply have dinner at the At.mosphere restaurant orattend a Saturday brunch at the Burj Club.
The silent elevator soars to the observation deck in just over a minute. From above, you can seeneighboring skyscrapers, the sea, Palm Island, highways, mosques, construction sites, and swimmingpools… The entire life of the metropolis on the Persian Gulf coast is laid out before you. You canexamine the details with binoculars or through interactive screens. A bit lower, on the 124th floor, there is another observation deck. And on the 152nd floor, there’s a lounge with an open terrace. Foran extra thrill, there’s an immersive attraction: a transparent floor that seems to crunch beneath yourfeet. Don’t worry, it’s just special effects — the tower is sturdy and safe. It’s built from special concretethat can withstand Dubai’s 50-degree summer heat. The foundation is firmly anchored by two hundredpiles that reach a depth of 45 m.
The View at the Palm
The man-made Palm Island, one of Dubai’s symbols, is best seen from the observation deck TheView on the 52nd floor of the Palm Tower, 240 m high. From there, you can admire the “trunk” of thePalm with its highways, beaches, and hotels; the “fronds” with villas and yacht docks; and the AtlantisThe Palm hotel at the “crown.”
The lounge offers Arabic sweets, tea, and coffee. At the Italian restaurant Lolli (also on the52nd floor), you can enjoy pasta, pizza, and tiramisu. In the boutique patisserie Madeleine et Marcel, you can find French desserts and crêpes. At 8 p.m., the Coucou restaurant opens on the terrace, offering a great setting to impress a date, friends, or colleagues with views of Dubai’s nighttime lightsand Mediterranean-Arabian luxury dishes: lobsters, crabs, caviar, escargot, tuna… On New Year’sEve, you’ll also have a spectacular view of the fireworks over Atlantis The Palm.
One floor below is the restaurant Sushisamba. Another floor down, and you’ll find yourself at the AuraSkypool Lounge with its bar and pool. And once again, a world record: the highest infinity pool with360-degree views. In summary, you can easily spend an entire day enjoying a resort-like experiencein the tower, gradually making your way down from the top!
Dubai Frame
The golden rectangle, 150 m high, in Zabeel Park, represents an entirely different concept. No hotelsor shopping malls — just pure experiences. They begin downstairs, in a gallery dedicated to Dubai’spast: fishermen, pearl traders, and desert dwellers. Holograms, music, and even special scents helpyou immerse yourself in history.
The upper part of the frame with the Sky Deck observation platform symbolizes the connectionbetween the past and the future: travelers see the old quarters from the northern side and the moderncity from the southern side. A 50-meter walkway with a liquid crystal covering connects the eras. Itreacts to your steps: the floor beneath you becomes transparent, making you feel as though you’refloating above Dubai.
Descending further, you arrive at an immersive exhibit showcasing the city’s future for the next50 years, featuring flying taxis, underwater homes, and space tourism.
Sky Views
The Address Sky View is a pair of skyscrapers connected by the Sky Views Observatory, located onthe 52nd and 53rd floors. By the way, it’s another great spot for a New Year’s Eve dinner in Dubai! From the Address Sky View, you can enjoy excellent views of the Burj Khalifa, around which thebrightest fireworks will light up at midnight.
The Sky Views Observatory would definitely be a record-holder for adrenaline. Everything here istransparent! A transparent elevator whisks you up to a height of 219.5 m, where a transparent floorgives the sensation of flying over the city and coastline. The thrill factor is heightened by the EdgeWalk Experience, an attraction that lets you walk along the edge. If you decide to walk around thecompletely open circular terrace with no barriers, glass, or railings, be sure to follow the dress code:only comfortable clothing and shoes. An alternative option is to slide down one floor through thetransparent Sky Slide. As you slide, you’ll experience not perhaps all of life but certainly all of Dubaipassing before your eyes.
