The new resort, which opened in the summer of 2021 on the Fari Islands off the northeastern tip of North Male Atoll, has added to The Ritz-Carlton’s collection of luxury hotels.
Just a 10-minute seaplane flight from Velana International Airport and you are in a magnificent resort that bears the name of the legendary hotel brand. The concept of the hotel project, developed by the famous architectural studio Kerry Hill Architects, is based on respect for the environment. The inspiration for the designers was the magical nature with raging waves and ocean breezes. The shape of the circle, in which all the buildings of the resort are “enclosed”, symbolizes the unhurried course of island life. In turn, unusual round villas with panoramic windows combine minimalist chic and Maldivian motifs.
The resort has 100 elegant beach and water villas with one, two and three bedrooms, with a total area of 150 to 1500 square meters. m. Each has spacious recreation areas both inside and outside, in the open air and a personal infinity pool. Panoramic sliding doors blur the line between interior and exterior. Each villa is assigned a personal butler, Aris Micha (as the butlers who served at the court of the Sultan were called in the Maldives).
The Ritz-Carlton Spa is an overwater spa with an extensive menu of treatments and therapeutic massages based on organic cosmetics from the British brand Bamford, and the Ritz Kids Club with futuristic playgrounds and a pool with a waterslide. Along with fitness, various tennis programs are provided: individual lessons with a local coach, master classes by invited professional athletes and friendly tournaments. The resort operates a diving center run by the world leader in recreational diving Dive Butler International. In addition, in partnership with famed oceanographer Jean-Michel Cousteau, the resort offers Ambassadors of the Environment, an immersive educational program for guests of all ages to explore and protect the island’s ecosystem.
The Ritz-Carlton Maldives, Fari Islands has seven excellent restaurants that seamlessly combine haute cuisine, healthy eating principles and a beach resort atmosphere. Summer Pavilion serves modern Chinese cuisine. Equipped with two teppanyaki grills, the Iwau takes you on a multi-sensory culinary journey. La Locanda awaits guests in the morning for a strong espresso and in the evening for an aperitif. The Beach Shack serves Mediterranean cuisine. And at the Eau Bar, guests can treat themselves to fresh oysters and black caviar, accompanied by signature cocktails. Here, in the evening, to the rhythms of traditional beru drums, a fascinating ritual of seeing off the setting sun takes place. Two more restaurants are located in Fari Marina, which can be reached in just 8 minutes on a traditional wooden dhoni fishing boat. The infrastructure of the picturesque marina itself includes a beach club, high-end boutiques, first-class restaurants, an art studio, a marine biology center and much more. In addition to shopping, you will get acquainted with local culture, art and music.
