The magnificent five-star Toscana Resort Castelfalfi is declaring 2022 as the Year of Art. The resort, located between Florence and Volterra, will be showing a sculpture exhibition entitled La Scuderia, which means “The Stables” in Italian, until December. Thanks to the Italian artist Giorgio Angeli and his Studio di Sculture d’Arte, the streets of the medieval village of Castelfalfi, now occupied by the fashionable resort, will be transformed into real open-air museum spaces.
The name of the exhibition is not accidental because next door to Toscana Resort Castelfalfi there is not only an ancient castle and a temple from the 15th century, but also a stable. An area of 1100 hectares is perfect for horse riding, with a golf course considered one of the biggest in Italy. The whole course, from the first to the 27th hole, is a real treat amidst lush nature, vineyards, olive groves and lakes.
As for the exhibition, it features sculptures by over a dozen contemporary artists who have been invited to use marble – the ”star” material – as their creative outlet. The project was inspired by Alberto Bartalini, architect, creator and artistic director of the Teatro del Silenzio, the famous open-air amphitheatre in Laatico where the Tuscan native Andrea Bocelli performs every summer.
Powerful marble sculptures fit harmoniously into the architectural and natural landscape of Castelfalfi. Narrow streets, ancient walls, well-kept gardens, breathtaking views and – new shapes, curved, geometric, undulating… It all makes up one beautiful art itinerary around the resort.
