The Land of the Rising Sun sees its largest influx of tourists during the annual cherry blossom season. Missing this spectacle is essentially missing out on the entirety of spring. As per the official forecast, the cherry blossom season commences on March 20 on Kyushu Island and concludes in early May on Hokkaido Island. To witness the cherry trees in Ueno Park enveloped in aromatic “clouds,” plan your trip to Tokyo after March 23. The zenith of this floral spectacle is anticipated to be on March 30. But fret not if you can’t make it to Tokyo. Venture to Altai at the end of April, when the Rhododendron Ledebourii is in bloom and the mountain slopes are awash with hues of purple.
