“Creation must involve the environment, but it must not destroy it,” says the famous designer Philippe Starck, whose project for the Lily of the Valley hotel on the Côte d’Azur, in the municipality of La Croix-Valmer. It’s only been a couple of years and the hotel has become remarkably popular. From the clear turquoise waters of the Mediterranean Sea to the century-old pine trees in the Domaine du Cap Lardier nature reserve on the outskirts of Saint-Tropez, from the wellness centre with its wealth of activities to the harmonious architecture of the landscape, everything has played its part. Guided by the same aesthetic and creative principles, Philippe Starck has designed the exclusive Villa W at Lily of the Valley, which has been welcoming guests since the first of July.
Above all, Villa W captivates with panoramic views of the picturesque Gigaro Bay, as magical as those from the hotel’s main terrace. The villa is set back from the main building and seems to be hidden from view by pine trees and lush southern plants. Its architecture, reminiscent of the work of Charles and Ray Eames or Jean Prouvé, is a celebration of minimalism: a light gable-roofed structure, wood, concrete, glass, and steel. Villa W is quite large, however, with three bedrooms and a large living room spread over 250 square metres. The long glass facade faces south towards the garden and the bay. An outdoor 17 metre pool stretches along the terrace. On the patio, there is an elegant chestnut pergola. Everything lends itself to an idyllic mood and encourages relaxation, detachment from the hustle and bustle and total communion with nature…
